Mourinho Hoping Against Hope to Make Impossible Possible

Mourinho Hoping Against Hope to Make Impossible PossibleFormer Liverpool star Fernando Torres was once again linked elsewhere after continuing his overly inconsistent performance for Chelsea. However, it looks as if the Spaniard will now stay at Stamford Bridge for at least one more season as Mourinho will try his luck as well.
The Portuguese manager has come up and stated that he will revive Fernando Torres, will play to his strengths, and somehow get the best out of him. It is fair to say that in this scenario, Mourinho is hoping against hope to make impossible possible.
The Chelsea boss claimed:

“I know his best qualities, and the best way for a team to play to try to get the best out of him”

Although, he surely knows his strengths but usually Mourinho’s style of play is more set up around quality midfield, different than the way Liverpool set it up for Torres at Anfield with Gerrard behind him.
Nevertheless, Torres is past his best. His former manager Benitez somehow got some good out of him in Europe but Spaniard continued his long goal drought in the league only to net in 2013 in the last month.
The first five yards of searing pace that helped him beat defenders with ease is long gone but that was not the only part of his game. Lethal finishing with the killer instinct that defenders feared and brilliant touch, all lost somewhere in Liverpool.
It is also said that Torres was the main reason behind the demise of managers like Ancelotti, Villas Boas and Di Matteo who failed to get him going and ultimately preferred veteran Didier Drogba instead who was more productive.
The previous managers claimed the same about helping Torres and making him shine at Chelsea but it never worked out. The competition for places has increased now and Mouirnho has many options yet he wants to give Torres another chance, perhaps to make the impossible possible. Well, good luck with that Jose.

  1. Marc CFC/BKK says:

Jose is correct when he makes the point that Torres should play in a system and against opposition to suit his play, and if any coach can provide that, it’s Jose. I think it’s great that Jose is intimating that he can do this and wants the challenge to do so; Torres became a great super sub toward the end of last season too. That could be great for next season, to switch play tactics and personnel during a match to not only potentially rescue a game but also to shake the opposition with enforced changes to them. At the end of the day though, they have never worked together and we will only find out whether any of this talk can be put into practice when Torres joins up with the squad for the US leg of the pre-season tours. So it will be interesting to see; when they’ve worked and trained together, surely only then will we learn for fact whether Torres will be around next season.

  2. It is encouraging that mou has faith in the future of his player,if not for anything, the football world can see that he is one of the best coaches .but let’s be realistic here, football is evolving faster than the time it will take el nino to find his skills back.the youths have taken over the sport with breath taking skills and pace and managers are breaking the bank to get the best. So I advice that fernando should go on loan or be sold to a smaller club where he can have better playing time and if luck is on his side he can regain his touch. Thumbs up to mourinho ,if any coach can do it,he can.

  3. The reason for this is Abromavich he bought Tores and cannot except he was a waste of £50million,If Mou intends to build a team around him Chelsea a in for a very poor season ,he has lost his pace is no longer a good finisher and technicaly shite !!
