Arsenal and United Chase Stars but Only One Likely to Leave

Reports suggest that gunners are back in for their former captain and Catalan Cesc Fabregas while Red Devils have been after his team mate Thiago Alcantara. The question is will the English clubs be able to lure the mentioned players.
Fabregas was a regular starter for Barcelona last season but Alcantara could rarely start because of the presence of big names like Xavi, Iniesta and the ex-gunner himself. Although, Arsenal and United chase stars but no matter how much their craving is, it is likely that Barcelona will only allow one of them to leave the club this summer.
Cesc has reiterated many times that he is happy playing for his boyhood club. On the other hand he has also stated about his desire to play for Arsenal again. The Spaniard left Emirates two years ago and ever since his departure Arsenal fans have been wanting him to return.
Besides Manchester United, Alcantara is also being chased by Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich. As mentioned, the Spaniard played a bit part role in Barca’s title winning campaign last season. He could only start 15 league games for the Catalan side.
Moreover, Fabregas has won two European Championships and a World Cup with the national side while Alcantara has only been able to win trophies for Spain at U17 and U21 level. The 22 year old midfielder desperately wants to be in Brazil with the national squad for the World Cup 2014. For that to happen, Thiago needs regular first team football and must leave Barca.
As far as Barcelona is concerned, the veteran Xavi Hernandez is still going good for the Spanish Champions and will be pulling strings in the midfield alongside Busquets, Iniesta and most probably Fabregas next season.
Therefore, the Catalans will not really be looking to off load both their stars in this transfer window. That can be possible (unlikely), if Barcelona are to bring in at least one world class center midfielder but for now there is no one linked because there is no need as they already have star studded midfield lineup.
To sum it all up, Alcantara is more likely to leave Barcelona than Cesc Fabregas this summer and gunners may have to continue their wait to see Spaniard in the Arsenal shirt again. United fans need not be excited for now as European Champions want Thiago as well.
However, it will be a wise decision if Alcantara joins United because the competition for CM places with Bayern is perhaps the same as with Barca.
