The 27-year-old star is mainly a central midfielder, who can also be deployed in the defensive midfield role. This season, he has played 25 games in all competitions for the Spanish side.
Tottenham already have more than a few players who can operate in the central/defensive midfield.
The likes of Dembele and Wanyama have proved to be fruitful this season. Eric Dier was fantastic in the DM role last season, however, Pochettino has mainly utilized the England international in the defense this season.
As per the provided Marca link, teams in England, Germany and Spain are interested in signing Mesa. Sevilla are the only club to have made an offer for him, worth 8 million euros and that was rejected.
